Later Sgt. Schuhart was stationed at locations such as APO 492 (Barrackpore, India), and at least some of the photos were sent from there to his mother, Mrs. Anna Schuhart, in Selden, Kansas (for 9 cents).
During training before deployment, Schuhart spent time in Lansing, Michigan, and Jackson, Mississippi (actually, at the Ordnance Unit Training Center at nearby Flora, Mississippi).
2005th Ordnance Maintenance Company arrived Calcutta, India, on November 8, 1943, with the 28th Air Depot Group. Various units were in locations such as Karachi, India, Myitkyina, Burma, Barrackpore, India, etc. See more background here.
Schuhart returned to the US via the troopship MS Torrens, departing Karachi, India, and arriving US at New York harbor via the Suez, sometime between September 1, 1945, and December 20, 1945.
Schuhart's parents were both immigrants from Germany. He was born August 24, 1915, in Sheridan County, Kansas, and passed away December 6, 2008, Oberlin, Kansas.
