Zdanoff

George Michael Zdanoff passed away peacefully on March 6, 2016. He was born on April 8, 1923 in Newark, NJ. Shortly after the family moved to New Haven , CT and finally to the upper section of Bronx, NY.
George attended CCNY College in New York.

He was inducted into the Army Air Force in February 1943 and sent to Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho and then to North Aftica and finally to the China Burma India Theater. He rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant where he was responsible to Brigadier General Kenneth B. Wolf, Commander of the 20th Air Force, designing and constructing air fields for the arrival of the new B29 Super Fortress. His duties covered mostly the CBI & Burma areas. While in Bombay, India, George traveled through Pakistan, then to Afghanistan. In Kabul he tried to develop a supply route using the Khyber Pass to China.
George was honored to be a guest at the Dassar Celebration of the Maharaja of Mysore while in India. Due to injuries in Burma, he was sent to the Darjeeling rest camp where he was able to see Mt. Everest.
George retired from the Nestle Company after 34 years as Director of the Corporate Facilities and Administration Services. Prior to Nestle, he was employed with the Atomic Energy Commission and with the Nuclear Lab Development Corporation as Production Coordinator.

George was married to his first wife, Dorothea Huner, in 1954 for 42 years until her loss to cancer in 1995. George remarried his second wife, Marguerite Gross, in 1998 who then passed away in 2003 from cancer as well. There were no children from either marriage. George leaves no living relatives.
Friends are invited to gather on Wednesday (TODAY), March 16th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd., Naples.
