Regarding Sgt. Zdanoff: "TSgt Zdanoff served in the US Army Air Corp from 2/23/1943 to 4/8/1946 and was assigned to the 20th Air Force Bomber Command and 930th Aviation Regiment. He was stationed at Fort Dix NJ and served in China, Burma and India under Generals Wolf and Hanley during WWII Air Offensive Japan India-Burma Chinese Defense. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar and an Honorable Service Lapel Button – WWII. During George’s time in the service, he was captured by Japanese and held for a week while being beaten. When the Japanese discovered the airfield, George was trying to move planes when his was shot down. Traveling the Ledo Road in the back of a flatbed truck a Japanese plane began shooting at them where he sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He jumped out of the moving truck sustaining further injuries. To this day, shrapnel could be visualized on his x -rays." Courtesy of Patriot Guard Riders.
