Donald J. Bartell, was an armoured aerial gunner, tail gunnerm and ball turret gunner on Tough Titti serving in the CBI from January 14th, 1944 to August 15th 1944. He was shot down in southern China. He was awarded the distinguished Flying Cross medal September 22nd 1944. He talked very little about the war with his family, only "I'm not a hero, just in the wrong place at the wrong time."
