The early B25Cs had an upper and a lower turret for defense and no tail mounted guns. Most of the 341st Bomb Group B-25Cs had their lower turrets removed and the hole covered over as soon as they arrived in India. Since the gunners tended to get quickly disoriented and unable to man the weapon, the weapon was basically useless and the weight was better utilized by fuel or bombs. Later 'C' models were manufactured with the lower turret and with side (waist) guns, instead.
