Civilians gather ready to go back to their ruined city of Luichow, after the Japanese, severely pressed by Chinese Ground forces, who, supported from the Air By the Fourteenth Air Force, drove them out of the city.
Liuchow is the second large city which the Japanese have evacuated in the Siang Corridor. Nanning fell on 27 May. Both cities were sites of former Fourteenth Air Force bases."
